====== Asus TUF A15 - FA506NCR ====== {{:public:config:linux:asus_tuf_a15_fa506ncr:screenshot_2025-10-26_15-29-40.png?800|}} ===== Usage ===== "Main" home computer. I don't need "gaming laptop" to take it anywhere with me, but I prefer to have some more CPU/GPU power when I need it. I actually downgraded from full-blown mid/high-spec PC build, because I didn't need as much power as current consumer grade CPU/GPU combos provide. I only do light gaming (or play on PS3), and when I need GPU for specific reason, I'm probably jumping between CUDA versions which forces me to reinstall the OS on such platform every once in a while. ===== OS ===== Debian 13 (trixie) with ''main contrib non-free'' repositories. ==== NVIDIA Drivers ==== Under nouveau, Xorg liked to tear and whatnot. It was not a smooth experience. I've followed [[https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers#trixie-535|this (debian-wiki: NvidiaGraphicsDrivers)]] wiki on official NVIDIA drivers on Debian using ''dkms''. Overall it was smooth installation experience, except when Grub decided to randomly choose kernel ''6.12.48+deb13-rt-amd64'' instead of ''6.12.48+deb13-amd64'' for which the driver was built. This made me go into rabbit-hole of Xorg debugging, only to find out, that I needed to boot with another kernel.
